Improved responses and safe communities will be the result of three Queensland Police Service officers graduating to Bundaberg as part of the Queensland Government’s strong plan for a brighter future for communities across the state.
The graduation will see 45 extra officers deployed to communities across Queensland from Cairns to Cornubia.
We have a strong plan which we are delivering on to ensure safe communities right across the state.
Our plan means more police, better resources, reduced red tape and safer streets, homes and businesses for Queenslanders.
I want to thank these recruits for taking an oath to serve and protect the community and to join the Queensland Police Service.
The additional officers will begin immediately and will further revitalise frontline policing services for families locally.
Our police officers have always done a fantastic job protecting Bundaberg, Burnett and surrounding areas and these additional officers will help them continue that outstanding work.
At the election, the Queensland Government promised to deliver 1,100 officers statewide over four years, and we are on track, having delivered well over 800 officers already.
I am committed to working to ensure our community is safe and that local officers have the resources they need to protect families and their homes.
The new officers have completed 25 weeks of rigorous training and have taken an oath to protect and serve the people in our community.
Following the graduation today, the three officers will begin arriving in communities and stations within the coming weeks.
On behalf of the residents of Burnett I wish to extend the warmest of welcomes to the new officers as they start their careers in our community.
