It’s a big pay-day for local sporting clubs with over $346,000 worth of grants approved for the Burnett electorate.

The funding has come under the Minor Infrastructure Program and Round 3 of the Active Clubs Program.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said he couldn’t be happier to see the grants go to such hard-working local organisations.

Agnes Water Active Riders are one of two sporting clubs in the Burnett to receive some serious funds to build infrastructure,” he said.

“They’re an extremely passionate, positive and motivating bunch of people and I couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve already come to create home grounds in the Discovery Coast.

“Nothing fazes the Agnes Water Active Riders so I’m thrilled to see almost $70,000 come their way to develop an arena to provide a quality and safe facility for horse sports in the region.”

Agnes Water Active Riders President Bronwyn Lynch said they’re over the moon to receive the grant.

“This year we began the long journey of creating a home base and these funds will allow us to move to the next stage of development,” she said.

“The 80 x 40-meter arena will allow us to hold so many more activities for our members and grow our club.

“We can’t wait to share our progress with the community.”

Mr Bennett said the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia Bundaberg Branch have also hit their target with over $188,000 committed under the Minor Infrastructure Program.

“This funding will help the club construct concrete dividing walls to improve the safety and efficiency of the shooting range at Elliott.

“It’s great to see the Burnett finally get its fair share with 35 organisations receiving further funds under the Active Clubs Program.

“Some of these $2,500 grants will go towards equipment for Childers Junior Rugby League, the Bundaberg Sailing Club, Moore Park Surf Life Saving Club and the 1770 Dragons.

“While other groups will use their funding to provide education and training for volunteers.

“A huge congratulations must go to all our successful clubs.

“Thank you for your consistent hard-work and support of our communities.”
