Local bushfire affected groups and organisations will share in almost $500,000 under Category C – Central Queensland Bushfires Flexible Funding Grant – Round Two 2019.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said seven local groups will benefit from the jointly funded Commonwealth/State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
“More than $152,000 will go towards the Baffle Creek Men’s Shed to help them implement projects aimed at driving recovery and building resilience,” Mr Bennett said.
“Our community was hit hard by the last two bushfire seasons; the fires tore through properties, homes and forests and devastated entire communities.
“We know the recovery process is long, but we also know that the people in the Burnett region are strong and always help each other out.
“This funding will go a very long way in the recovery process, and I’m pleased to see it awarded to some very deserving organisations.”
The breakdown of this funding (excluding GST) is as follows:
• Baffle Art Group a sub group of Baffle Creek Community Inc. – $18,237
• Baffle Creek Community Inc. – $103,279
• Baffle Creek Men’s Shed – $152,168
• Captain Creek Pony Club Inc. – $126,080
• Discovery Coast Sport and Recreation Association Inc. – $29,500
• Discovery Coast Tourism and Commerce Inc. – $42,000
• Winfield Rural Fire Brigade – $15,131
The Category C – Central Queensland Bushfires Flexible Funding Grant will be administered
by the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors.
