Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has announced $126,656 of funding for 8 community organisations in the Burnett region.
Mr Bennett said he was delighted to see funds had been allocated to help a number of regional community groups to improve facilities through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

“I am absolutely delighted to announce this funding, which will be put to good use by these dedicated, not-for-profit groups,” Mr Bennett said.

“These funds will help to improve facilities in our local communities and assist these not-for-profit groups to purchase much-needed equipment to cater to the growing needs of the community.”

Mr Bennett said he was particularly thrilled to see the Bororen Hall Committee would receive $33,679 to install solar panels and build a barbecue area.

“This much-needed funding will enable the Bororen Hall Committee to install solar panels at the Community Hall, which will significantly reduce their electricity costs,” Mr Bennett said.

“I’m sure the committee will also be looking forward to being able to provide a great new barbecue shelter area for the community to enjoy.”

Bororen Hall Committee Secretary Jessie Barrett welcomed the funding announcement, saying the group was ecstatic that the funding was approved and are looking forward to installing the solar panels at the hall.

“Electricity is a major expense for the hall and when you’re a volunteer group in a small town, it’s hard work trying to keep afloat let alone fundraise for these expensive, yet necessary, upgrades,” she said.

“The Bororen community will also be able to have their own barbecues there, which we know will make a massive impact in our efforts to increase community spirit and involvement.”

Mr Bennett also announced funds for the 1770 Art Show to assist in upgrading equipment.
