ASVP3773 low res croppedBurnett sport and recreation clubs are urged to apply for funding in the next round of the Queensland Government’s highly successful Get Going and Get Playing programs.

There is more than $14.5 million dollars available for clubs under this new round which opened on 1 July 2014 and closes on 1 September 2014.  

Get Playing and Get Going are two of three programs that make up Get in the Game, a key initiative designed to get more children and young people involved in sport and recreation activities.

 In round two, two clubs in Burnett received $154,511 of Get Playing funding to improve their infrastructure and facilities.

 In addition, six clubs shared $36,808 in Get Going funding to provide better services and boost member numbers.”

 Burnett electorate clubs that received funding under round two included: 

  • Isis District Small Bore Rifle Club Incorporated ($54,511 Get Playing) to construct an indoor air rifle range at Childers.
  • Bundaberg Touch Association Incorporated ($100,000 Get Playing and $5460 Get Going) to upgrade lighting to six touch football fields and conduct coaching accreditation.
  • Agnes Water Rugby League Club Incorporated ($644 Get Going) to conduct coach accreditation and purchase equipment.
  • Agnes Water/1770 & District Branch Little Athletics Centre Incorporated ($9153 Get Going) to purchase equipment.
  • Bundy Dragons Bundaberg Dragon Boat Club Incorporated ($8870 Get Going) topurchase equipment.
  •  Bingera Football Club Incorporated ($3355 Get Going) to conduct coach accreditation and develop school and club links and purchase equipment.
  • Agnes Water Surf Life Saving Club Incorporated ($9326 Get Going) to conduct junior activities program and purchase equipment.

 Round four of Get Started, the third program in the Get in the Game initiative, will open on 15 July 2014 and assists children and young people with the costs to join a sport or recreation club.
