ABOUT 90 guests packed into the Bundaberg QCWA room today to help support cancer sufferers and their families.
Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea, hosted by member for Burnett Stephen Bennett and the QCWA Burnett Division, raised more than $2,000 on behalf of Cancer Council Queensland.
Mr Bennett thanked locals for supporting the cause.
“It was wonderful to see so many people turn up and dig deep to help us raise vital funds for cancer prevention, research and support services,” he said.
“Every dollar helps to make a difference to people and their families who are affected by cancer.”
Mr Bennett said cancer sadly touched the lives of many, including thousands of people in the Wide Bay Burnett region.
“Sadly, in the Wide Bay Burnett region alone, around 1500 people are diagnosed with cancer each year,” he said.
“Cancer Council Queensland is there to support those affected by cancer, providing both financial and practical assistance to those experiencing cancer-related financial hardship.
“This is a nice way to support the Cancer Council’s efforts in looking after local families doing it tough.”
Attendees were treated to a delicious spread of home-baked goods, courtesy of the CWA ladies.
