Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has once again ‘tea-ed’ up with the QCWA to host Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea.
The eighth annual and highly anticipated morning tea, to be held on Wednesday June 8, will feature home baked goods, tea, coffee, guest speakers, entertainment, raffles and the renowned rip-around.
Dozens of people are expected to attend the event and raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland.
Mr Bennett said it’s wonderful to be able to host Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea with face-to-face events back for 2022.
“We are really looking forward to coming together once more over a cuppa to make a difference in the fight against cancer,” he said.
“Cancer touches the lives of many, including thousands of people in our region, so please gather your friends to help us raise funds to ensure the Cancer Council can continue its vital work of providing support for those affected by cancer,” Mr Bennett said.
“I’m looking forward to joining the QCWA ladies and the community as we raise funds to help beat cancer.
“Last year we managed to raise more than $2000, but this year I’m calling on the community to dig deep and do even better in 2022.”
Event organiser Bernice Maidment said a simple cup of tea can go a very long way.
“By enjoying a cuppa and something to eat with friends, you’re helping the Cancer Council fund lifesaving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs,” she said.
“Many of us have been touched by cancer in some way, this is a lovely way to come together to support one another and raise funds.
“We’re looking forward to opening the QCWA Hall doors on the 8th for a delicious morning tea.”
All funds raised through the morning tea help support more than 1820 people in the Wide Bay Burnett diagnosed with cancer each year.
Cancer Council Queensland Community Development Specialist Rebecca Field said the event is open to all.
“We are truly grateful for the ongoing support of Stephen and the QCWA,” she said.
“This is such an enjoyable morning, if you are unable to host your own event or just looking to be involved in an Australia’s Biggest Morning tea, I encourage you to come along.
“The funds raised at this event and others like this will help support those in our local community affected by cancer.”
Entry is $5 per person and includes morning tea and a lucky door prize ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Doors open at 9:00am for a 9:30am start.
