Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea is back to beat cancer for a 10th year!

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has once again ‘tea-ed’ up with the QCWA to host Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea.

The 10th annual and highly-anticipated morning tea is only one week away and will feature home baked goods, tea, coffee, guest speakers, entertainment and raffles.

Around 100 people are expected to attend the event which hopes to beat last year’s fundraising effort of $2000.

Mr Bennett will don the apron for the milestone occasion and has called on the community to come along and unite for a cuppa to make a difference.

“I couldn’t be more proud to represent such a generous, kind and supportive community,” he said.

“Every dollar raised helps to fund lifesaving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.

“Sadly, cancer touches the lives of many, including thousands of people in our region, so please gather your friends to help us raise funds to ensure the Cancer Council can continue its vital work of providing support for those affected by cancer.”

All funds raised through the morning tea will help support more than 1930 people in the Wide Bay Burnett diagnosed with cancer each year.

Event organiser Bernice Maidment said she’s thrilled to be able to host the event once more.

“Simply by enjoying a cup of tea and something to eat with friends, you’re helping the Cancer Council fund lifesaving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs,” she said.

“It’s such a worthy cause and we’re really looking forward to welcoming Bundaberg back through the CWA Hall doors.”

Relay for Life 2024 Volunteer Judy Peters said Australia’s Biggest Morning Teas raised awareness and valuable funding for research and early detection of cancer.

“No matter whether you are an international sportsman like our Patron Wayne Morden, a farmer like our Face of Relay Paul Nunn or a young child at school like Maddison cancer affects so many people’s lives,” said Ms Peters.

“Morning teas like this one hosted at QCWA rooms on Wednesday 5th June offers good company, delicious morning tea and an array of cent sale prizes all in support of those dear to us who have undertaken or continue to go through this journey.

“Together we will make a difference.”

Entry is $5 per person and includes morning tea and a lucky door prize ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The morning tea will be held at the Bundaberg QCWA Hall on Quay St at 9:30am on Wednesday, June 5th.
