Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett is calling on the local community to unite for a cuppa to make a difference in the fight against cancer!

Mr Bennett will join with the QCWA Burnett Division to host Bundy’s Biggest Morning on Wednesday, June 7, from 9am at the Bundaberg QCWA Hall (Quay Street).

The third annual and highly-anticipated cuppa will feature home baked goods, tea, coffee, guest speakers, entertainment and raffles.

Mr Bennett encouraged locals to save the date and tea-up for the cause.

“Cancer touches the lives of many, including thousands of people in our region alone,” Mr Bennett said.
“The QCWA Burnett Division ladies and I started this event two years ago as a way of showing our support to those affected by cancer and their families.
“Cancer Council Queensland does an amazing job and this is one small way that we can help them to continue their vital work and hopefully reach their goal for a cancer free future.
“We are hoping to make this year’s Bundy’s Biggest Morning tea even bigger and better – and your support will go a long way to funding vital cancer research, prevention and support services.”

Entry is $5 per person and includes morning tea and a lucky door prize ticket.

Tickets can be purchased at the door.

All funds raised through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea help support more than 1630 people in the Wide Bay Burnett diagnosed with cancer each year.

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Chris McMillan said every cup counted in the fight against cancer.

“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity to gather your friends and loved ones together to raise funds to ensure Cancer Council can continue its vital work, including providing support for those affected by cancer,” Ms McMillan said.

“From hosting or attending a morning tea, to donating, baking, or spreading the word, everyone can play a part in making 2017 a success.”

The official Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea date is Thursday, May 25, but locals can hold an event and raise funds anytime throughout May or June.

In 2017 more than 5500 Queenslanders are expected to host an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and raise $2.6 million for Cancer Council Queensland.
