Local state members Stephen Bennett and David Batt have donned the aprons once again to raise some much needed funds for Cancer Council Queensland.
The members for Burnett and Bundaberg co-hosted Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea with the QCWA Burnett Division today.
The fifth annual morning tea was highly-anticipated, featuring home baked goods, tea, coffee, guest speakers and raffles.
Around 100 people were expected to attend the event which hoped to beat last year’s fundraising effort of $1600.
Mr Bennett said it was about coming along and uniting for a cuppa to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
“Cancer touches the lives of many, including thousands of people in our region, it was wonderful to see so many people come together to help us raise funds to ensure the Cancer Council can continue its vital work of providing support for those affected by cancer,” he said.
“This is a date I look forward to every year; when David and I join the QCWA ladies and the community once more as we raise funds to help beat cancer.
“We managed to raise $1600 at last year’s event, which was fantastic! We are hoping to make this year’s Bundy’s Biggest Morning tea even bigger and better.”
Mr Batt said he’s looking forward to being involved in the event for many years to come.
“Simply by enjoying a cup of tea and something to eat with friends, you’re helping the Cancer Council fund lifesaving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs,’ he said.
“The day is about welcoming everyone, it was a fantastic morning with fantastic prizes on offer and an array of sweet and savoury treats to enjoy.”
All funds raised will help support more than 1690 people in the Wide Bay Burnett who are diagnosed with cancer each year.
