Yesterday local farmers rallied outside the Bundaberg MP’s office to fight for a fair go against her government’s anti-farmer vegetation management reforms.
Today, Bundaberg taxi drivers were front and centre outside Leanne Donaldson’s office to protest against her government’s move to legalise the controversial ride sharing service, Uber.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett, who joined taxi drivers in the protest, said he was appalled at the local Member for Bundaberg’s failure to fight for the Bundaberg region’s small business operators.
“Here we have the local member for Bundaberg proudly spruiking that she is ‘fighting for Bundaberg’, yet she has failed miserably,” Mr Bennett said.
“Yet again, the local Bundaberg MP hasn’t stood up for local businesses… instead, she has thrown them to the wolves.”
Mr Bennett while taxi drivers were doing it tough, the silence from the member Bundaberg was deafening.
“Yesterday we had local primary producers on the member for Bundaberg’s doorstep desperately seeking her support in their fight for fair laws, and today we have local cabbies desperate for Leanne Donaldson to stand up for their rights and give them a voice. How many mistakes can she make in one week?
“I find it offensive that Bundaberg’s local member won’t stand up for local business. She should remove all signage with the misleading ‘fighting for Bundaberg’ slogan,” he said.
Mr Bennett said local small businesses and primary producers were being crippled by the Palaszczuk Government.
