Celebrate the new era in long distance train travel with the Spirit of Queensland road show coming to town on Saturday 31 August.
The road show will be held from 9am at the Hinkler Central and I encourage locals to bring along their best Queensland spirit.
This is a great opportunity to share in the excitement of the first Spirit of Queensland Tilt Train to set off from Brisbane to Cairns on October 28.
I myself will be heading down to Hinkler Central at 11:30 am and encourage as many people as possible to come and take part in the statewide competition.
Stop by the QR booth and go into the running to win one of 10 holidays on our new trains by recording a 30 second video telling us what the Spirit of Queensland means to and you and your family.
To me, the Spirit of Queensland means people with a positive approach to life that matches the climate and who enjoy our laid-back lifestyle.
Winning entries will be selected based on originality and creativity, so we encourage entrants to have some fun.
Entries will be displayed on the Queensland Rail website www.queenslandrailtravel.com.au
Locals will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with staff at the road show to find out more about the Spirit of Queensland trains.
The Spirit of Queensland route will be serviced by a brand new Tilt Train and two refurbished Tilt Trains, replacing the retiring Sunlander by the end of 2014.
Each of the new trains will carry 172 passengers and boast an Australian first with revolutionary RailBeds that convert from a seat to a lie-flat bed for overnight travel.
In the last financial year we’ve had more than 121,000 customers stopping in Bundaberg on our long distance services.
We expect this new era in rail travel will open up even more possibilities for people to holiday or commute in the Bundaberg region.
Bookings are now open for the first service on 28 October 2013 so visit www.queenslandrailtravel.com.au or call 1800 TRAINS (872 467).
