Premier Newman and Geoff Chivers from the Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association
On Thursday, September 13th, Minister for Police and Community Safety Jack Dempsey MP and Stephen Bennett MP hosted a Bundaberg Region Promotion Night at Parliament House.
During the dinner break at Parliament, more than 60 MPs, Ministers and Parliamentary staff sampled great local produce from the Bundaberg region. Bartender Andy from the Bundaberg Distilling Company mixed cocktails using premium rum products and mixers from Bundaberg Brewed Drinks.
Vintners Secret Winery showcased their current vintage of local wines for tasting, and guests sampled fresh fruits and macadamias from local growers. Anthony and Teena Mammino were on hand with their macadamia, rum and raisin and avocado ice cream, and dried fruit samples from Gin Gin and Dry rounded out the taste sensations.
“We wanted to promote some of our wonderful local fresh and value-added producers, as well as our iconic distilling and brewing companies”, Mr Bennet said. “We need innovators and entrepreneurs in regional food production, and these are just a few”.
“Given the enthusiastic response from everyone attending, we would like to make this an annual event”, he said.
