Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has praised Bundaberg’s construction sector in state parliament this week.

Mr Bennett, who is also the Shadow Minister for Housing and Public Works, took the opportunity to acknowledge the work of local tradies and congratulated several companies on their recent accolades through this year’s Wide Bay Burnett Housing and Construction Awards.

Gainsite Plumbing, Jeff Lennox, Steve Coates Constructions, Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes, Murchie Constructions and JRZ Homes were among those recognised in Queensland Parliament.

“The standard that we saw this year was incredible and demonstrated the outstanding talent and expertise of the construction sector,” Mr Bennett informed Parliament last night.

“The Housing and Construction Awards provide an opportunity to recognise this talent and it is great that, after 29 years, they continue to be sought after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.”

Jeff Lennox and Steve Coates Construction received a special mention for taking out major awards.

“Jeff Lennox Builder took on the Friendly Hospital Private Medical Suites project under difficult circumstances and overcame them exceptionally well,” Mr Bennett said.

“Jeff regularly puts out projects in Bundaberg of a high stands. The result is a great facility for the Bundaberg region and was a clear winner of this year’s Project of the Year Award.”

Mr Bennett also paid tribute to Bundaberg’s Jesse Zielke, who took out the Rising Star award, and Melissa ZIelke who was awarded the Strong Support and Acknowledgment for Women in Building.

Mr Bennett said he was also pleased to see Murchie Constructions received recognition for their project in retail facilities.
