Four Lane Bruce Highway from Gympie to Cairns
The Bruce Highway is the bitumen spine that holds Queensland together. The 1677km road connects north to south and links regional and coastal communities to each other. The Bruce also gives Queensland’s industry and agriculture access to ports and vital international markets that support tens of thousands of jobs.
The LNP’s commitment for the Bruce Highway is:
1. A four-lane Bruce Highway from Gympie to Cairns by 2035
2. A $50m investment plan and a $33bn state-federal funding partnership
3. A Bruce Highway Queensland Contractors Panel to ensure Queensland businesses are awarded job-creating contracts.
Construction will create and estimates 6820 jobs a year – that’s more than 100,000 jobs.
Extra investment in the Bruce Highway is long overdue.
The Bruce is our gateway to the South-East and to North Queensland.
The Bruce Highway is critical to our economy, but huge sections of the road are too slow and too dangerous.
A more efficient, four-lane Bruce would ensure that local farmers and businesses can send and receive deliveries on time.
A better Bruce Highway will also encourage more tourists to visit and explore our region.
Only the LNP has a plan to turn Queensland’s most important road into Queensland’s best road.
