Residents in the Bundaberg region need to get the right advice before embarking on repairs to flood damaged properties.

More than a dozen staff from the Building Services Authority (BSA), have travelled to Bundaberg to provide flood-affected residents in the Wide Bay-Burnett region with information on repairs and rebuilding.

After an event like this it’s natural that people are going to want to get cracking with the job of rebuilding. We will have BSA staff on hand in the recovery centres to make sure people are aware of the proper procedures.

That includes best-practice technical advice on everything from the correct way to clean a flooded property, to safe asbestos removal.

It is extremely important that people follow this advice, otherwise it’s possible that any building work undertaken could prove defective in the future.”

Anyone with questions about rebuilding should contact the BSA at one of the Bundaberg recovery centres, by phoning 1300 272 272 or by checking the BSA website at www.bsa.qld.gov.au
