Boaties can now benefit from improved access to their favourite fishing spot in the Burnett River thanks to a new boat ramp facility at Fairymead.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett today welcomed the opening of the new dual-lane boat ramp which he said was a joint project between the Bundaberg Regional Council and the former state government as a direct result of a community-led campaign.
Mr Bennett, who will join the celebrations today, said it was great news for boaties as the new boat ramp facility would assist in satisfying regional demand and complement the existing boat ramps along the Burnett River.
“The new facility will also provide an alternative, and in some cases more convenient, location for recreational boaties to access the river north of Bundaberg,” Mr Bennett said.
“I’m proud of the LNP former state government in the work they were able to achieve in delivering better marine infrastructure which was clearly asked for by this community.
“I congratulate the community, particularly our boaties, for highlighting a community need and I am pleased to see these works have now been completed.”
Mr Bennett thanked the Bundaberg Regional Council for their contributions in delivering the project on time and ensuring the boat ramp was ready for the Easter break.
