Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has put his cards on the table ahead of the 2023-24 Queensland State Budget.

Mr Bennett made an early submission to the Queensland Treasury with a wish list of items for the Burnett electorate.

“I want to work with the State Government and Treasurer Cameron Dick to fix problem areas around the Burnett and ensure the electorate gets its fair share of the budget pie,” he said.

“First and foremost on my list is funding to construct overtaking lanes and safe intersections on Rosedale Road and the Isis Highway.

“I’m also calling for an overhaul of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service with no more funding cuts and huge funding increases. ?

“We need money for Moneys Creek Lagoon and Round Hill Creek, as well as a feasibility study for Essendean Bridge and a future Bargara State High School.

“Also in Bargara I’m looking for funding to upgrade the Bargara Road and Hughes Road intersection as well as a commitment for sporting infrastructure in the area.

“A big one for our community is a Bundaberg to Bargara cycle path and widening of Bargara Rd.

“Further south and Walkers Point needs a rock wall at the boat ramp, while up north Agnes Water needs a Community Centre.

“They are just some of the commitments I’ll be looking for in the 2023-24 State Budget.”

Mr Bennett is urging the community to make submissions to the Queensland Treasury by this Friday.

“It’s vital we have our say to ensure the budget is spread fairly and evenly across the state.”
