Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has welcomed an announcement that a re-elected Coalition Government would provide $300,000 for a hydrotherapy pool to be built in Childers.
Mr Bennett has actively supported the Childers community in their campaign for a heated hydrotherapy pool by sponsoring and tabling a petition in state parliament and attending a community-led protest rally early last year following the Queensland Labor Government’s move to scrap funding for the facility.
Mr Bennett said he supported the community’s campaign for the pool as part of his ongoing desire to revitalise frontline health services in regional Queensland.
“The people of Childers and surrounding communities deserve to access high quality health care facilities and the hydrotherapy pool is a vital facility that would save patients frequent trips to and from Bundaberg for treatment,” Mr Bennett said.
“I congratulate Keith Pitt for listening to the community’s needs.
“This is fantastic news for Childers and the surrounding region and will help people recover from physical and neurological injuries in a comfortable environment.
“Hydrotherapy pools are lauded by health care professionals as being a proven form of rehabilitation for not only the elderly, but those with a disability and injured patients.”
