Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has been named LNP’s Shadow Minister for Environment, Heritage Protection and National Parks.
Speaking from Parliament House today where he will officially accept the role, Mr Bennett said he was honoured and welcomed the opportunity to take on the challenge.
“I’m deeply honoured to be asked to serve as Shadow Minister for Environment, Heritage Protection and National Parks. Many will know the work the LNP team has done locally and across the state, I look forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead,” he said.
“It’s about ensuring sustainable outcomes for our environment… I’ll be making sure we have an environment where Queensland can continue to prosper.
“We live in a wonderful part of the world in Burnett where we have unique national parks and the phenomena of nesting sea turtles, and of course the southern Great Barrier Reef. I look forward to playing an instrumental part in protecting these environmental assets.”
Mr Bennett said the LNP offers an experienced and stable team, unlike Labor where union bosses dictate who sits at the Cabinet table.
“While Labor has no plan other than an infrastructure freeze, we will continue to build on the achievements the LNP has delivered over the last three years.”
