Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has demanded action on dangerous Burnett roads with the fatality rates continuing to climb.

“For too long our State roads around the Burnett have been ignored,” Mr Bennett said.
“We have already seen far too many tragedies this year and it’s only March.
“It’s time for action which it why I pushed the issue of our dangerous roads at every opportunity in Parliament last week.
“There have already been 27 fatalities on the Central and North Coast region’s roads this year. *

“That is just horrific.
“We need action, and we need it now.”

Mr Bennett asked two Questions on Notice to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey in Queensland Parliament last week.

With reference to September 2020 when the Minister committed $42.5m to upgrade the Isis Highway between Bundaberg and the Bruce Highway and works to date have installed an overtaking lane south of Bundaberg— Will the Minister advise the complete extent of work being proposed? **

With reference to the 2020 Christmas holiday period, a number of serious car crashes occurred on Rosedale Road in the Burnett Electorate— Will the Minister advise whether there are plans and funds allocated for the installation of safety upgrades including overtaking lanes? ***

Minister Bailey must provide a written answer to the parliament within 30 calendar days.
