It’s all fun and games for two Burnett primary schools who will receive over $500,000 to upgrade their playgrounds!

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said Woongarra State School and Oakwood State School will see $171,605 and $347,694 respectively under the School Subsidy Scheme (SSS).

“I welcome this funding for Woongarra and Oakwood State Schools with the money going towards important playground upgrades,” he said.

“Playgrounds are sometimes overlooked, but they are a vital piece of the puzzle when it comes to a child’s development.

“They open growing minds to a world of discovery and help children with coordination, strength, and motor skills.

“In a world where the screen is becoming impossible to ignore, playgrounds help to create health-conscious communities and encourage cognitive development.

“While this is great step in the right direction for these two primary schools, there is still plenty more work to be done around the electorate.

“I look forward to working with the Minister for Education to deliver more funding opportunities for schools around the Bundaberg and Burnett region.”

Project funding will be made available to the schools in the 2022-23 financial year.
