Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has renewed calls for urgent action to address the serious safety concerns at Round Hill Creek, following an incident which left another yacht stranded this week.
Mr Bennett said the ongoing access issues at the mouth of Round Hill Creek was beyond a joke.
“It’s time for this government to stop ignoring the pleas of Volunteer Marine Rescue Round Hill and the boating community and get on with the job of dredging Round Hill Creek,” Mr Bennett said.
“We can’t afford to sit back and ignore the problem.
“It’s a serious safety concern that is hindering rescue operations.
“The community is sick of being fobbed off by the government and they are quite rightly outraged that this government insists that the issue isn’t a priority.”
